not just rainbows…
I had been wanting to use all of the colored glassware I had to make a rainbow tablescape for a while, and decided that Pride was a great opportunity to not only bring attention to my business, but the real reason why we celebrate Pride month.
Pride isn’t all rainbows and floats. It’s of course a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and their joy, but it’s also a reminder of all that has had to be done to get to where we are today, and all there is left to do.
As an ally, I hope to continuously show my support for the LGBTQ+ community not only through my words, but my actions. Here are some tips on how you can be an ally not only during pride, but everyday!
*call out homophobia and transphobia in the moment, whether it is a family member, friend, or stranger
*speak out and protest against politicians who are endangering LGBTQ+ rights and people
*donate to causes that are fighting for legislation that supports and protects the LGBTQ+ community
*shop at and support LGBTQ+ businesses in your community and beyond
*educate yourself on LGBTQ+ history as well as what is currently impacting their community
*listen to and uplift LGBTQ+ voices!
Happy pride to all!
